10 Thanksgiving Food Tidbits for Fido

What can my dog eat on Thanksgiving? You may be tempted to share your bounty with Fido this holiday season, but remember there are foods that don’t agree with our furry friends; some may even cause serious problems. Here’s a top 10 list of foods you may have at your Thanksgiving table, and which are safe for your dog to eat.

  1. Yes to cooked white meat turkey, but no bones, excess fat or skin
  2. No to onions, garlic, leeks or scallions
  3. Yes to plain mashed potatoes
  4. No to grapes
  5. Yes to cranberry sauce, but watch the sugar
  6. No to Xylitol, an artificial sweetener found in some foods
  7. Yes to macaroni and cheese, if your pet is ok with dairy (watch for gas and bloating)
  8. No to chocolate
  9. Yes to plain green beans
  10. No to alcohol
